Course objectives:

At the end of the training the trainee will be able to:

  • Select tools and materials for garment making
  • Draft and make male and female garments
  • Draft and make children’s wear
  • Market tailoring products and services
  • Start and manage own business

Additionally:

  • Knit sweaters, Pullovers e.t.c
  • Waeves macramé, Macroba bags, Scuffs, Carpets, Doormats, Wall hanging, Table mats.
  • Design and make wedding gowns, party wear, kitenge products.
  • Exhibit Entrepreneurship and communication skills.
  • Exhibit moral behavior that will prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Target group:

  • O’level Certificate holders with good grades in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry.
  • UJTC holders with good grades.

1 pair of scissors

Electric flat iron

1 tape measure (150cm long)

Bobbin case

1 set of French curves

Bobbin

Straight edge

Machine needles

Hand needles

20 spools of sewing machine threads (2 boxes)

2 dozens of Acrilic threads for knitting

1 roll of popline material

½ roll square material

 

Duration:

  • The course lasts for two years.

Certification :

Successful candidates are awarded the Tailoring and Garment cutting Craft Course Part 1 Certificate of UNEB.
